What is Tinder?
Tinder is a free app available on both iOS and Android that allows users to view potential suitors within a pre-determined radius.
Daters can swipe right to ‘like’ a profile and left to reject it, two people who have ‘liked’ each others profiles are deemed a match, and can beginning messaging via the app.
Grindr works on a similar basis, and is the world’s number 1 dating app specifically geared towards gay and bisexual men looking for a match.
How can I stay safe?
In 2016, there was a record number of offences with fifty sex crimes involving Tinder and Grindr being reported to Scotland Yard in the six months to June.

Dating app Tinder suggest the following to remain safe when meeting an online date:
– Get to know the other person before meeting them offline and do your research
– Always meet in public, never in a private or remote location
– Tell a friend or family member your plans, tell them where you are meeting and when you will return
– Drive yourself to and from your first meeting, be in control of your own ride, even if you take a taxi
